In a previous post we covered some hot keys which modellers can use to be more efficient during modelling. As we use the modeller more and more we’re discovering more quick hot keys to add a faster velocity onto an quick development cycle.
The First Letter Quick Create
When modelling you obviously have to add components to your modules. The quick way to do that is strike the first letter on the keyboard representing the actual item that you would like to create within the module. For example if you would like to import a web service then the quickest way to do that is to right click on the module, hit “A” for Add then hit “I” for Import Web Service. When there are more than one item sharing the same first letter you can simply continue to strike that letter to cycle through the options.
The F9 Show me the Money in my Browser
We all know about the quick F5 compile button hotkey but once your project is successfully compiled hit F9 to load the running application within our browser. Alternatively if you’re running one of new mobile app functionality then hit Control F9 to run the mobile client within your browser.
The Control F and F3 Power Combo
Control G is a great hot key for cycling through items that you’re looking for on the fly but if you need to perform a wider and more detailed search then using the Control F key will yield more defined results. The results are displayed in the Find Results section at the bottom of the modeller. Cycling through the results can be performed just as quickly by hitting the F3 button which will display the actual item being selected in the find section – one item at a time giving you a greater degree of control over your find query.
